Summary of Personality
The Cain Horak the TV stations saw was a long-suffering boyfriend who had finally given into his own suffering. That couldn’t be further from the truth. Cain may well be a well-mannered man with impeccable organisation, but that barely covers up the fact that he’s remarkably jealous while being very selfish. And speaking six languages (English, Russian, Chechen, French, Turkish, and Arabic) can hardly justify the fact that his jealousy turned into an eruption of violence. At least now that he’s with much bigger and scarier guys, he can try his very best to hide the fact that that scares him.

- 2001: Kheda’s mother comes to Texas for a short visit, and finally meets her grandchildren; after she returns to Russia, Kheda tries to persuade Frank to let her come to Texas to stay, but he refuses
- 2003: Kheda begins working at a local newspaper shortly after Frank gets fired from his job teaching at a middle school
- 2004: After a year of unemployment, Frank returns to working, this time at a high school not far from Houston; in the midst of this, problems begin to arise between Kheda and Frank
- 2006: Cain begins high school, four weeks after his parents file for divorce; Kheda moves into her own apartment closer to her offices
- 2007: Kheda wins custody of Cain and Eva in the divorce proceedings; she later finds a job at a state-wide TV channel as a reporter

- 2018: Now dating, Cain and Nick move in together; on a trip back to see his old college friends, Cain hooks up with Luis; when he returns to Houston, he confesses it to Nick, leading to a massive argument, but the couple stay together
- May 2019: Several months after the argument, Cain comes home early from work to find Nick in bed with one of their neighbours; another huge argument follows; enraged, Cain goes to stay at his mother’s, where his anger becomes worse and worse until he snaps; he goes back to his and Nick’s house while Nick’s working, and hides until he gets home; as soon as Nick is there, he jumps him and stabs him 32 times; he returns to his mother’s, and continues as if nothing had happened; the body is found the next day by Nick’s lover
- June 2019: Cain is arrested for the murder after an intense five weeks of investigation, leading to a trial in which Cain’s lawyers try to present him as the All American Boy who lost his head because of his boyfriend’s behaviour; eventually, he is convicted and given a life sentence, after his lawyers insisted that death was unfair due to Nick's maltreatment of him over their relationship; one of the most poignant moments of the trial was at the very end, when Kheda had to report on the sentence and broke down on state-wide TV; shortly after the trial, he is sent to Boarwood Prison
